ST. PAUL, Minn., May 21 (UPI) -- Authorities in St. Paul, Minn., said two high school students who toured the State Capitol may face charges after they allegedly defaced three portraits.

Lt. Robert Meyerson of the Minnesota State Patrol said the two boys, ninth-graders from Eastview High School in the St. Paul suburb of Apple Valley, Minn., used markers to draw on paintings of past governors Jesse Ventura, Harold LeVander and Elmer Andersen, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Wednesday.

Meyerson said the boys had allegedly told others about the vandalism.

"There was some bragging going on," he said, adding that one of the boys admitted to authorities that he participated in the vandalism.

Meyerson said the case would be handed to prosecutors to assess possible charges after Capitol security completes the investigation.

Bill Keyes, director of Historic Sites and Museums for the Minnesota Historical Society, said the total damage to the three paintings amounts to $175.
