NEW YORK, May 20 (UPI) -- An 83-year-old New York woman said she would rather have her health back after being awarded nearly $4 million for tripping in a pothole.

Janie Utsie broke her femur and had to undergo extensive surgery five years ago when she fell into a pothole while getting off a bus in the Bronx.

"Maybe a miracle, I'll get real again," she told the New York Daily News after a court hearing Monday. "But I don't know about that."

Utsey's lawyer told the jury that his client could no longer move around very well due to the injury.

The New York Post said the city contended the pothole was connected to the cement bus stop and could not be simply filled in like a normal pothole. An appeal of the $3.8 million award is being considered.
