LYNBROOK, N.Y., May 15 (UPI) -- Police in Lynbrook, N.Y., said they arrested a bank robbery suspect after a dye pack left a trail of red smoke that alerted a passerby.

Nassau County police said the passerby noticed the red smoke trailing behind Natasha Benton, 26, and pursued her to a nearby pizza parlor, where she was arrested by officers, New York Newsday reported Thursday.

Officers said Benton, who was charged with robbery, entered HSBC Bank Wednesday and handed a note to a teller demanding money. The dye pack exploded outside the bank while she was fleeing with the stolen cash, police said.

All of the stolen money was recovered, police said.
