DARMSTADT, Germany, May 11 (UPI) -- A package sorter in Darmstadt, Germany, got a shock when a python crawled out of a parcel, the postal service said.

The employee and Deutsche Post colleagues rounded up the wayward snake Friday and put it in an empty box, Deutsche Welle reported. They called police and the responding officers found two more pythons in the damaged package.

All three were tiger pythons, one an albino more than 3 feet long.

The package originated in Darmstadt and was on its way to eastern Germany. Police are now investigating the sender for possible violations of animal control laws.

The pythons were taken from the post office to a reptile house.
