Woman evicted for out-of-control weeds

YATE, England, May 5 (UPI) -- An English woman has been cast out from her home after neighbors complained she let weeds grow wild in her garden for six years.

The Merlin Housing Society evicted Rachel McGarie, 29, of Yate after an April 18 hearing at Bristol County Court, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

McGarie's upstairs neighbor said the woman, who agreed to tend the garden as part of her lease about 10 years ago, allowed the plants to get so out of control he could pick blackberries by reaching out of his window.

Authorities said the weeds and out-of-control plants grew to envelope a 6-foot-high child's swing and a garden shed. The plants' foliage has been measured at 10 feet high in some spots and the Merlin Housing Society said the overgrowth can be clearly seen using satellite pictures on Google Earth.
