DETROIT, April 24 (UPI) -- Detroit police said they believe an elderly woman has been living with the corpse of her dead sister on her kitchen floor -- possibly for the last three years.
Investigators said the corpse was partially mummified and portions of the body appeared to have been eaten by a dog and cat living at the residence, the Detroit Free Press reported Thursday.
Police said the woman -- who appeared to be suffering from mental problems -- was taken to a crisis center for treatment. They said they made a visit to the home after a neighbor phoned police to report she had not seen the deceased woman for a long time.
