CLEVELAND, April 24 (UPI) -- Ohio State Rep. Matthew Barrett has resigned seven months after an image of a nude woman appeared on his computer screen as he lectured a high school class.

Barrett left his position after Ohio House Democratic Leader Joyce Beatty, District 27, called for his resignation, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Thursday.

Beatty said Barrett -- Democrat and former Amherst City Council member who represented Huron County and portions of Lorain and Seneca counties -- inserted a data memory stick into a computer while lecturing a senior government class at a Norwalk, Ohio, high school. After the image of a nude woman appeared on the screen, he quickly pulled it out.

The school's technology director examined the memory stick and found it contained a directory of nude images.

"It became clear that Rep. Barrett had not been forthright with me and his colleagues," Beatty said.
