NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- More than 1,000 blushing brides signed up to peruse the world's most expensive and elaborate wedding essentials at Monday's "Wedding Salon" in New York.

One item at the luxury wedding showcase included a 22-carat diamond ring worth a mere $1 million, the New York Daily News reported.

"Nothing is more brilliant than a diamond to show your love -- and, of course, the more the merrier," said show coordinator Thomas Noel.

The show's organizers have said soon-to-be newly weds will fork over money for the extravagant items, despite the country's declining economy.

"Whether or not we're in a recession, it doesn't matter. That day is the most important day of your life and a memory for a lifetime," Noel told the newspaper.
