GREENVILLE, S.C., April 10 (UPI) -- A Greenville, S.C., woman with an allergy to bees says thousands of the honey-making insects have taken up residence in her home.
Jane Walcott said a huge colony of honeybees have made their home in an exterior wall of her house, filling the inside of the wall with honeycomb, WYFF-TV, Greenville, S.C., reported Thursday.
Walcott said the current scarcity of honeybees has left her reluctant to have the insects killed, but she wants them away from her house.
"Is it like a horror movie or what?" Walcott said. "I can sit in my office and hear them and if you bang the wall, it's like a Stephen King novel. It's really unnerving."
She said experts told her getting rid of the bees would create its own problems.
"The honey left unattended will melt through my wall and destroy my wall," she said. "(Insect experts said) it would smell so bad I'd have to move out."
Walcott said she is hoping a bee-enthusiast will lure the insects to a new location.
"I would think someone would want these bees and they are more than welcome to them," she said.
