Mysterious powder on bus was chalk

BOSTON, April 9 (UPI) -- Massachusetts transportation officials said a mysterious white powder found on the dashboard of a bus in Boston has been identified as chalk.

Joe Pesaturo, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, said a State Police laboratory analyzed the substance and found it to be common chalk, the Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

Pesaturo said the driver of the bus was treated for eye irritation and light-headedness at Boston Medical Center.

"This substance is likely not responsible for the symptoms reported by the bus operator," Pesaturo said.
