PHILADELPHIA, April 9 (UPI) -- April 1 was more than a week ago, but the University of Pennsylvania student newspaper pulled its practical joke Wednesday in an annual April Fool's edition.

The Daily Pennsylvanian joked in one of several made-up stories that Penn Democrats had decided to switch their allegiance from Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., in the hotly contested race for the Democratic presidential nomination. Pennsylvania holds its primary April 22.

The spoof story said the student group objected to racially tinged comments by Obama's pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and the campaign's persistent get-out-the-vote drives. It also lauded the resiliency of the Clinton campaign.

"She lied about landing in Bosnia under sniper fire, her credibility is slipping nationally, and she has no reasonable path to win the nomination," said Lauren Burdette, the president of the group and college sophomore. "And yet, she still hasn't quit. That's the kind of determination that Penn students should admire."
