ORLANDO, Fla., April 5 (UPI) -- A diaper-wearing monkey ran amok on the streets of Orlando, Fla., chasing and jumping on residents after it escaped from its home, witnesses said.
"I wanted to take him for a pet but after he kind of growled at me and chased me down the street, that is just not the monkey I want to deal with," victim Rommel Gray told WKMG-TV, Orlando, Fla.
The escaped monkey was reported to authorities after it was spotted by drivers running loose on the streets Friday.
"He came to me and jumped on my back. So, I tied him to a cage and then animal control put the loop around his neck and contained him," Sharon Beverly told the TV news.
The monkey's owner did not have a license for the animal and was on a work-related trip, WKMG reported.
The animal was in the custody of Fish and Wildlife authorities.
