KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 4 (UPI) -- A Malaysian woman is seeking nearly $1 million in a lawsuit against her husband for taking her virginity without a traditional Chinese marriage.
The 30-year-old woman, a teacher, claims in the suit that she and her husband had sexual relations after a few months of dating and registered their marriage, but never went through traditional Chinese marriage rites, The Sun reported Friday.
"What she has is a marriage on paper only," said the woman's lawyer, Ernest Chua. "It's not the kind we all know and the kind all women want. It's a marriage obtained by misrepresentation."
The suit also names her husband's parents for allegedly "inducing their son to breach the contract of marriage" and for causing her "humiliation and mental torture."
The woman is also asking the court to nullify the marriage.
