WARREN, Mich., April 4 (UPI) -- Memo to bank thieves: When robbing a bank, don't fill out an account application and then leave it behind, as one thief did in the Detroit area.

The wig-wearing woman tried to rob a Warren, Mich., bank with a gun, but left a completed account application and a copy of her photo identification -- and was arrested shortly after, police told the Detroit News.

She apparently panicked, fleeing the bank sans loot and application, police said. Police visited the address she listed -- it was a former residence -- where the manager supplied officers with the new address.

The investigators found the woman at the second address. She confessed and was arrested without incident, Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said.

"Our officers acted quickly, and they arrested her less than an hour after we received the initial call from the bank," Dwyer said. "She said she was having money troubles, which is why she said she tried to rob the bank. We're seeing that more than ever: People are turning to robbery because of the bad economy."
