HARWICH, Mass., March 30 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts high school valedictorian will give his speech from thousands of miles away because he won an internship with a student travel agency.
Patrick Blute will be in Europe when his classmates at Harwich High School get their diplomas June 8, but Principal Kevin Turner said he will still give the valedictory speech, the Cape Cod Times reported.
"We're going to find a way to Skype his speech in, with a screen that shows the Eiffel Tower in the background," Turner said.
Blute beat 2,000 rivals for the Student Travel Association internship, which will take him from London to the Galapagos Islands with stops in between in Serbia, Australia and Buenos Aires, among other places. He produced a three-minute Webcast that showed him rapping in several locations in different costumes.
His comment on his summer plans -- "It's surreal."
