CHICAGO, March 27 (UPI) -- Crain's Chicago Business says it fell for an early April Fool's Day joke about Donald Trump buying an interest in Time Out Chicago magazine.
Time Out Chicago hand-delivered a press release Tuesday saying the real estate mogul had bought a controlling interest in the publication, and included a copy of the March 27 issue with a photo of a grinning Trump on the cover, Crain's said.
The photo had the headline, "Our New Owner."
"We thought people would realize this was a parody issue," said Tony Barnett, marketing director for Time Out Chicago, Crain's reported. "That's why we didn't send out the press release without the magazine."
Unable to reach a magazine official to check on the report, Crain's posted a story on its Web site Tuesday evening under the headline "Time Out Chicago gets Trumped" -- but said later it was the one that got "trumped."
