MIAMI, March 23 (UPI) -- Alfred Kreisler, a 92-year-old South Florida lawyer who married for the first time in October, is single again now that his marriage has been annulled.

A judge ruled that Kreisler "did not have the capacity to manage his own affairs or to marry," the Miami Herald reported. The marriage was challenged by Kreisler's nieces, who argued that his wife, Yvette Penichet, was after his money.

In a settlement, Penichet returned her wedding ring and gave up any claims to Kreisler's money. Kreisler, whose assets are estimated at $22 million, transferred $7.7 million to his bride when they married, but Penichet has been barred from accessing most of the money.

Penichet gets to keep $30,000 she transferred to a son from a previous marriage. The nieces also agreed not to seek prosecution for elder abuse.

Penichet's lawyer argues she was genuinely fond of Kreisler and that he hoped to have someone to take care of him so he would not have to move to a nursing home. Kreisler and his 95-year-old brother, Seymour, reside in an assisted-living facility.
