MONTREAL, March 22 (UPI) -- A YMCA in Montreal has informed its members that only staff members can change the channel on any of the health club's televisions.

YMCA spokeswoman Marie-Josee Meilleur said by only allowing staff members to change television stations, club officials hoped to offer TV viewing to members in both English and French, The (Montreal) Gazette reported Saturday.

But since the club only has seven televisions, a decision had to be made regarding which language would serve the most people and French edged out English for the honors.

Meilleur said her memo regarding the new TV policy had angered some members but to member Frances Todoruk such complaints are pointless.

"If I wanted to watch television, I would stay home," she told The Gazette. "I think people are being too sensitive."
