ORLANDO, Fla., March 19 (UPI) -- Orlando, Fla., school officials said a student urinated in a teacher's lunchbox after she made a comment that appeared to give him permission to do so.
Officials said Jameeka Chambers, a teacher at Meadowbrook Middle School, has been put on paid leave while the incident is under investigation, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday.
Frank Kruppenbacher, an attorney for the Orange County School Board, said other students in the class gave statements that indicated Chambers told a student who asked to use the restroom to hold it or use the teacher's lunchbox. The student then took the lunchbox behind a bookcase, urinated in it and returned the item to Chambers, Kruppenbacher said.
He said officials believe Chambers made the suggestion jokingly.
"I think we clearly know she didn't tell him, 'Go pee in this box,' in the sense of going to go do that," Kruppenbacher said. "That's beyond our comprehension."
"It's not something we've ever seen before," he said. "In fairness to our teacher, we've really got to wait to have her explain to us exactly what happened."
