SKOPJE, Macedonia, March 14 (UPI) -- A Macedonian court has ordered the country's government to compensate a beekeeper $3,500 after a bear repeatedly stole his honey.
Zoran Kiseloski, from the village of Krivogastani, said he attempted to ward off the bear by playing loud Serbian turbo-folk music, but it was to no avail, Novosti reported Friday.
"I tried to distract the bear with lights and music because I had heard that bears are afraid of that," he said.
Kiseloski said the bear would wait until the generator for the equipment went dead and would strike before he could recharge it.
A local court ordered the government to pay Krivogastani $3,500 for the stolen goods.
However, the beekeeper's lawyer said his client plans to appeal for a larger sum.
