Cricket player takes down streaker

BRISBANE, Australia, March 5 (UPI) -- Police in Brisbane, Australia, said a streaker who exposed himself on national TV during a cricket game spent the night in a holding cell.

Robert Murray David Ogilvie, 26, was charged with interfering with a person engaged in sport, which carries a maximum fine of $5,600, and willful exposure of his genitals in public, which is punishable with a maximum fine $140. But after admitting his guilt to a judge, he was fined only $1,400 with no recorded conviction, The Age reported Wednesday.

Ogilvie, a miner, circumvented security guards and made it to the center of the playing space Tuesday during the second one-day international between Australia and India. Australian player Andrew Symonds shoulder charged the intruder, knocking him to the ground.

Cricket Australia said the player will not be penalized for his actions.

"Frankly, I hope he sticks with cricket and doesn't exchange it for any form of football," Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said of Symonds.
