MILAN, Italy, March 2 (UPI) -- A new exhibit in the Italian city of Milan is making a lot of noise -- after all that's what the exhibit is about, noise.

The show, first seen in Belgium last year, features Yoko Ono, Joseph Beuys and American composer John Cage, ANSA, the Italian news agency, reported Sunday.

The exhibition explores the concept of noise though 21 performance art videos at Milan's Spazio Oberdan.

''The dimension of sound is an absolute constant in our daily routines: we wander around with iPods stuck in our ears and cell phones glued to our cheeks,'' said Flemish curator Gwy Mandelinck.

Among the loudest works on display is "A Laugh Will Bury You" by Italian Lara Favaretto. The exhibit features a resin box on the floor that emits an earsplitting laugh, ANSA said.

Other exhibits explore the concept of silence.

"The negation of sound can be just as fascinating,'' Mandelinck said.

The exhibit runs through May 25.
