PARMA, Ohio, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A 6-year-old Ohio boy was suspended from school for coming to class with a Mohawk haircut, a report said.

Bryan Ruda was suspended from Parma Community School after the board of Constellation Community Schools decided his hair style was a distraction to other students, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.

"This was his third infraction. We felt that we were being extremely patient," Principal Linda Geyer said.

The boy's mother, Michelle Barile, reportedly received a written warning from the school about not putting products in her son's hair to lift his Mohawk after he was scolded for spiking it on the first day of class.

"They're singling out my son. They can't tell me how I can cut his hair," Barile said.

Barile said that after the warning, her son did not come to school with his hair spiked but he got in trouble last Thursday after getting the sides of his hair shaved.

Barile plans to move her son to Bryan at Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Parma, the report said.
