ALBUQUERQUE, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- The Baby Face Bandit bank robber in Albuquerque was arrested after his mother reported him to police, a report said.
The mother of Carlos Lueras, 28 -- known by authorities for his youthful face -- called police after seeing him on television, billboards and the news, the Albuquerque Journal reported.
"The mother deserves a lot of credit as an upstanding citizen. To come forward like that has to be tough," FBI Special Agent Darrin Jones said.
Lueras reportedly faces six charges of bank robbery in connection with a crime spree that began Jan. 15 when a Bank of America was robbed. A total of $11,400 was stolen during the spree, court records state.
Police tracked Lueras down during a traffic stop after two bank robbers admitted he paid them to rob a Wells Fargo Bank Wednesday, the report said.
Police had reportedly been looking for him during the months leading up to the robberies on separate charges.
