MERRIMACK, N.H., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Police in Merrimack, N.H., said a woman who demanded a ride home from a fire truck crew stole cigarettes from a convenience store earlier that same day.
Marque Buckley, 20, was arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including trespassing on the fire truck and robbery after she allegedly shoplifted a three-pack of Parliament Light cigarettes from a convenience store, the Manchester Union-Leader reported Friday.
"She said 'My car broke down. I'm going to take the fire truck to Manchester to get home,'" said Merrimack Police Lt. Richard Desmond. "They were all surprised."
Desmond said the women refused to leave the fire truck until police arrived. She allegedly kicked a police officer twice in the shins, leading to charges of resisting arrest and assault.
Police said Buckley had refused to pay for cigarettes at the Manchester convenience store, and allegedly slammed her car door on the clerk's arm after she followed her out of the store.
"When you use force during the commission of a theft, it becomes a robbery," said Manchester Police Capt. Rick Reilly.
Buckley was held at the Valley Street jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
