New York resident Ashley Phillips said she was surprised subway workers found Georgia, her 7-month-old feline, after such a long time, the New York Daily News reported Sunday. Advertisement "I'm still in shock," the 24-year-old librarian said. "I kind of gave up hope that they'd find her. "She's getting micro-chipped as soon as possible." Georgia had been traveling inside a travel case on the subway last month, but bolted into the tunnels when Phillips temporarily put the case on the ground. Track flagman Mark Dalessio said he was searching the subway system last week when he heard the lost kitten cry for help. Dalessio told the Daily News that while the cat look frightened as he approached it last Wednesday, it still give him a friendly lick. "It was kinda cute," he said. "I can imagine the fear the cat had with trains going by."
