ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- It looks as though Minnesota polar bears Neil and Buzz will live in Detroit while their home in St. Paul is being renovated.
Buffalo, N.Y., has backed out as a temporary home.
While the arrangements for the twin bruins' move in the next few months have to be worked out, Como Zoo officials said Monday they are pleased with the impending placement at the Detroit Zoo's Arctic Ring of Life facility, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
"Our team is excited to be working with the Detroit Zoo and are confident that this will be a good placement for the bears," said Michael Hahm, director of the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
Detroit, home to the world's largest polar bear exhibit, became the temporary home of choice after officials at the Buffalo Zoo decided it would be too costly a venture to take care of Neil and Buzz during what is expected to be a two-year upgrade of their residence in St. Paul, the newspaper said.
