Abercrombie & Fitch posters confiscated

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- An Abercrombie & Fitch store manager in Virginia was given a ticket by a police officer who found two advertising posters too sexually provocative.

The two large posters, one showing part of a male butt and the other showing a woman topless with her hands covering her nipples, were confiscated from the Abercrombie & Fitch store in Lynnhaven Mall by Virginia Beach Police Saturday, the Newport News (Va.) Daily Press reported.

The manager was issued a citation on obscenity charges.

The confiscation was sparked by several citizen complaints about the displays, said police spokesman Adam Bernstein.

"An officer went and looked at them, and thought himself that they were pretty racy," he said.

The store manager also was given a copy of City Code Section 22-31, which specifies that it is illegal to display any obscene material in a business that is open to juveniles.
