Norway police crack down on accordions

TROMSO, Norway, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Police in Tromso, Norway, are putting the squeeze on accordion players who peddle their brand of music on city streets.

The police are escorting accordion players who stray from the one part of town where such activities are allowed -- the city's main central square -- off the streets, Aftenposten reported Monday.

"The reports we've had indicate that people are being driven mad by the tunes coming from the accordions all day long," city police Chief Truls Fyhn said. "I have myself stopped to listen, and let me make it very clear: The quality of the music is very, very low."
