NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- The secret organizers of the New York City SantaCon have completed their 10th annual celebration of Santa-clad drinking and Christmas-related debauchery.

A 30-year-old Brooklyn man who asked to be identified only as "Santa" said the event -- which he attended for the first time this year -- was directed by text messages from secret organizers telling dozens of people dressed as Santa Claus where to go for the next stage of the party, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

"One of the most amazing and spectacular things about SantaCon is that this is not that organized," he said. "I have no idea who the organizers are, and my only interaction with them is the Web site and the text messages I was getting."

"Santa" said he and his friends registered their phone numbers with the event's Web site so they would receive texts letting them know where to go for a jolly old time.

The Santas were first directed to congregate in Tompkins Square Park before receiving messages that took them to Libation nightclub.

"When Libation finally opened up, it turned into a three-floor dance party with only Santas," he said.
