Kid hits button, foams airport hanger

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A curious kid just couldn't resist temptation and hit an emergency button that triggered a sea of fire suppression foam at a Philadelphia airport hanger.

The expanse of white foam not only filled the hanger Saturday but it spilled out onto the tarmac where the wind blew puffs of it into the air like a snow storm.

The incident at Northeast Airport occurred during Agusta Aerospace's family day outing. Authorities said an employee's child hit a button that said "Don't hit button unless in an emergency" WPVI-TV in Philadelphia reported.

The Philadelphia Fire Department was called out to to clean up the mess. There was no word on any damage to the helicopter inside the hanger.

Sacramento works to solve parking problems

SACRAMENTO, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Sacramento city officials have set up backward parking spaces and eliminated coin operated meters in an attempt to clear up congested streets.

The backward parking spaces, in which the back wheel is against the curb and the car is facing traffic, have been installed in the Newton Booth neighborhood as an experiment, the Sacramento Bee reported Monday.

It's called "back-in angled parking."

City officials also intend to replace parking meters downtown with green "pay and display" stations.

The downside of the stations is that there are usually just two per block, and you have to return to your car to place a "time" sticker in your window.

The upside is that the stations take any type of coin, plus some credit and debit cards.

Protection in stores for the holidays

PHOENIX, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Former Arizona major league pitcher Mark Littell may not stand on the mound any longer, but he's developed a new product for intimate safety.

After taking an informal poll of pitchers on his team, he found out that nearly half of them went to the mound with their manhood unprotected, so he took a chance and developed the NuttyBuddy, the Arizona Daily Star reported Monday.

The NuttyBuddy is a form-fitting athletic cup that Littell hopes will improve comfort and safety of fellow pitchers and, of course, put money in his pocket.

The NuttyBuddy comes in four sizes, starting from the youth size, called The Hammer, all the way up to the extra large Mongo.

Littell not only gives his seal of approval on his product, but also tested it himself in a promotional video that can be found on NuttyBuddy.com.

Jets fans lose breast-baring tradition

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Numerous security guards and East Rutherford, N. J., police put a damper on the breast-baring "Gate D party" at the most recent New York Jets NFL game.

"It's silly," said Fred Willbourgh, 40, of the large police presence near the gate. "It's all good clean fun."

The tradition involves women baring their breasts near Gate D during halftime but the ritual has received unwanted attention and has been put down by police, The New York Post reported Monday.

The weather -- it was in the high 30s for Sunday's game -- also may have dampened the tradition.

"In this cold weather, you'd have a better chance to see God," Jets fan April Castronovo told the Post.
