LONDON, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- A British woman apparently held her friends, who own a Chinese restaurant, in higher regard than her family, leaving the couple $20 million in her will.

While property magnate Golda Becha officially named Kim Sing Man and Bee Lian Man as her main beneficiaries in her will, her family opposed the generous bequest to the restaurant owners in Essex County, The Independent said Saturday.

After a lengthy legal battle following Becha's death in 2004, a High Court judge recently ruled that her wishes would be honored.

Sir Donald Rattee found that Becha was not mentally unstable while creating the will, a claim made by her surviving nieces and nephews.

The newspaper said the Mans, who became close friends with Becha and her late husband after they opened their restaurant, were ecstatic about the judge's decision to honor Becha's last wishes.

"We are delighted with this result," their attorney, Damon Parker, said. "This has been about a friend's right to leave money as she wanted."
