Bush announces incorrect hotline number

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The toll-free hotline number released Thursday during U.S. President George Bush's news conference about mortgage relief was wrong.

It was a hotline and it was toll-free, all right, but it was a hotline to the Freedom Christian Academy, a Texas-based group that provides Christian education materials suitable for home schooling, CNN reported.

As he announced his plan to help ease the mortgage crisis, Bush accidentally gave out the wrong toll-free prefix for the new "Hope Now Hotline" set up by his administration to help homeowners seeking mortgage relief.

The White House press office issued a correction moments after the President's remarks.
