CHANGSHA, China, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- A Chinese farmer turned down a small fortune so he can donate his giant pig to next summer's Beijing Olympic Games.
Xiao Shaohong said he turned down $6,735 for his 5-year-old white sow, which weighs 2,293 pounds, Xinhua reported Saturday.
Xiao's big pig hogged the spotlight when it made an appearance at a porcine sporting event in central China's Hunan Province -- but didn't go up against the other pigs that competed in such events as hurdle-jumping, swimming and short sprints, the Chinese state-run news agency said.
Xiao said he intends to donate his pig to the Olympics. Chinese believe pigs bring nobleness and good luck, Xinhua noted.
