WARRENTON, Mo., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A 911 operator using an emergency backed with practical experience and an information card guided a Missouri man through the delivery of his daughter.

Dispatcher Katie Eskew told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she knew the baby would probably arrive before the ambulance. She happened to be the person on the other end of the line when Bryan Young called Warren County Emergency Services to ask how to get to the nearest hospital and then heard his wife RaeAnn tell him to ask for an ambulance.

"It really hit when he told me this would be their third child," Eskew said. "I've been in with my sister and sister-in-law when they gave birth. The more children you have, the quicker the childbirth goes. I knew birth was imminent."

Bryan Young said to the newspaper that it was helpful that he had watched the couple's son and older daughter being born. He had also assisted at calving during his childhood on a farm.

Breeyn Young's birth on Sept. 22 was a family affair in more ways than one. One of the first police officers to arrive at the Youngs' house was Eskew's sister, Sgt. Donna Karst, while her brother, Michael, was with the ambulance, The Post-Dispatch said.
