"We will be having none of that pumpkin or trick-or-treat rubbish." Jack Ferguson of the company in charge of this year's palace event in Scotland told the BBC in an interview.

Ferguson said Halloween organizers view pumpkins and going door-to-door for candy as representing "American big business and rampant consumerism."

Instead, Herald Events plans to give this year's Halloween celebration a Scottish twist by having children led around the grounds of ancient Scone Palace by a man dressed up as the ghost of a Jacobite soldier, The Telegraph of London reported.

The traditional autumn festival of Halloween is based on the ancient Celtic ritual of Samhain.
