Susan Matasovska admitted to willful and reckless damage of property and breach of the peace. She was ordered to pay the fine to help offset the insurance costs for the damage she did to the BMW driven by Adam Montgomery, the civic head of Midlothian Council, The Scotsman reported Friday.
The conflict began as a disagreement between Matasovska and Montgomery over the future of a park. Montgomery approved a plan to erect an all-weather pitch at Penicuik Park, 10 miles southwest of Edinburgh -- a plan that was opposed by Matasovska and several other residents.
Shortly after Montgomery made comments that opponents of the plan were "getting his goat," he received a drawing of a goat in the mail. He said he initially laughed it off, but ensuing mailings from the same sender began to grow more and more hostile until the assault on his vehicle.
Matasovska admitted responsibility for the mail and the damage to the car.
