LANCASTER, Pa., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A greedy alleged purse snatcher probably would settle for bail money after being arrested in Pennsylvania trying to ransom a stolen cell phone to its owner.

A 29-year-old Philadelphia woman told police a man grabbed her as she got out of her car in Lancaster Sunday afternoon and pulled her purse off her shoulder as she ran away. Officers asked the women to call her phone inside the purse and the thief answered.

"He wanted money, $185,000, to give her her phone back," Officer Jeff Gerhart told the Lancaster (Pa.) New Era.

Police traced the suspect's location while the woman negotiated the ransom down to $200, and they agreed on a meeting place where officers pounced.

Randy-Jay Adolphos Jones, nicknamed "Baby Boy, was booked on robbery and indecent assault charges and held on $100,000 bail.

He had the cell phone on him and the stolen handbag was found nearby, police said. Authorities have no clue why the ransom started at $185,000.
