MANCHESTER, England, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Police in Britain have been unable to catch up with a man they've dubbed the millionaire shoplifter for his penchant for telling people of his alleged wealth.

Police in Lancashire County are among those seeking Kevin Castle on charges he committed numerous profitable thefts while portraying himself as millionaire to those around him, The Daily Mail said Friday.

"There is no doubt he is Britain's biggest shoplifter," Detective Constable Anita Fishwick of the Lancashire Police said. "He lives and looks like a millionaire."

The 42-year-old suspect has also been tied by police to various other crimes, including money laundering, identity theft and interception of mail.

Fishwick told the newspaper Castle is distinctive due to his fondness of portraying himself as a millionaire, including the use of expensive cars and designer clothing.

"Mr. Castle is quite distinctive because of his clothing and his millionaire-type lifestyle," she said. "We are very keen to trace this man and speak to him in connection with our inquiries."
