JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- The New Jersey attorney general's office is investigating four municipal Jersey City judges on suspicion of throwing out parking tickets for loved ones.
Since September, the city's chief judge has resigned and three others requested unpaid leaves of absence without offering an explanation, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
Trial court administrator Joseph Davis told the Times it's possible others will come under scrutiny as well.
"People are concerned with what they’re seeing and others may be concerned with our ongoing investigation," he said.
If the attorney general's investigation find sufficient evidence to charge any of the judges with official misconduct and they are convicted there is a maximum 10-year prison sentence associated, along from being barred from sitting as a judge, the newspaper said.
