Stripping for food may end in Maine

GREENVILLE, Maine, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- The free lunch may have to end for Maine skinny dippers, says a Greenville restaurant owner who offers free sandwiches to those who jump naked off his dock.

For three years, Leigh Turner, owner of the Black Frog Restaurant, has been giving patrons a free sandwich called the Skinny Dip if they jump nude off the restaurant's dock into Moosehead Lake. Tuner told the Bangor Daily News he typically had a few takers a week and only one person ever complained.

When Turner tried to get his liquor license renewed, however, someone suggested the naked swimming be brought to an end.

Turner defended the light-hearted gesture, noting the skinny dips were usually at night and did not expose patrons to frontal nudity.

"Most everybody applauded," Turner told the Daily News, but added he would discontinue the offer if asked.
