Weird sandals lead to heroin bust

BEIJING, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Authorities in Zhuhai City, China, said they found heroin in the possession of a Nigerian man after his unusual sandals attracted their attention.

The unidentified man was arrested last week at the Gongbei Customs, China's official news agency Xinhua reported Sunday. Police said the sandals attracted their attention, and a search of the man's luggage turned up another pair just the like the one he was wearing.

A search of all four sandals led to the discovery of more than two kilograms of heroin hidden inside the heels, police said.

Customs officials told Xinhua traffickers have been becoming increasingly clever about moving their contraband, forcing officials to become more attentive.
