The second most dangerous gardening staple is the flower pot, causing 5,300 injuries, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said. Advertisement The society said hedge-trimmer accidents increased by more than 50 percent in the past five years, to 3,100 a year, the Daily Telegraph reported Monday. RoSPA said actually about 300,000 people are injured seriously enough to require hospital treatment. Of that number 110,000 were children. Men were more likely to have garden accidents than women, and -- aside from children -- people between the ages of 30-60 are likely to be injured, the society said. The most common accident in a garden is a fall, but the biggest threat is a cut and being hit by something.
