HONOLULU, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Porky was certainly a big pig but whether he was dangerous and deserved to die will be a matter for the courts in Hawaii to decide.

Joseph Calarudda is charged with felony theft of livestock after stabbing the 300-pound porcine TV show veteran to death, WITV-TV in Honolulu reported Wednesday. Part of Calarudda's defense may be that Porky was aggressive and dangerous, the station said.

Calarudda, who was expected to go to trial this week, allegedly killed the pig -- which appeared in the ABC television series "Lost" -- as its owners begged him to stop. Prosecutors said they intend to use video of Porky in a TV commercial to demonstrate how amicable he was around humans.
