Repo order did not cover 4-year-old

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- An Illinois repossession company nearly made off with a 4-year-old boy after two of its workers inadvertently began towing a car with the child inside.

Police in Aurora, Ill., said once the two employees began towing away a vehicle from the city's northeast side last week, the young -- and likely confused -- child fell from the moving car, The Aurora (Ill.) Beacon-News reported Saturday.

A spokesman for the police department said the child managed to avoid traffic by landing in a construction zone.

One of the employees had been following the tow truck at the time of the incident Thursday and immediately contacted his partner with a heads-up.

The workers told police they had looked through the vehicle's front windows prior to towing the car, but did not see the child inside.

Police told the newspaper the child suffered only minor injuries and has already been discharged from the hospital.

Utah teens admit to hunting cows

PROVO, Utah, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Two teenagers in Orem, Utah, have admitted to hunting nine cows last month after becoming frustrated during a deer hunt.

Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officer Paul Davis said in a statement the teenagers confessed to shooting the cows repeatedly with arrows, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

"The two teens were frustrated that they hadn't harvested any deer during the archery deer hunt and shot several cows during the first weekend of the archery deer hunt in the Clyde Creek area near Strawberry Reservoir," Davis said.

Luckily for the cows, the teenagers' arrows were only tipped with practice points.

When the injured animals were found, the Utah Bowman's Association and the Bowhunters of Utah, Hoyt and Easton provided funds for a reward for the assailants' arrests.

Trash bag apparently not a good gun case

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- A 38-year-old man is facing charges in Philadelphia after an assault rifle he allegedly stole fell out of the garbage bag in which he was carrying it.

Michael Rohlman was arrested for allegedly stealing the assault rifle from a home and unsuccessfully attempting to carry it home in a trash bag, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

Witnesses allege the rifle fell from the bag while Rohlman was walking down a sidewalk Thursday, prompting them to call police. When police arrived, they allegedly found Rohlman attempting to hide the stolen firearm behind a trash bin.

Police allege Rohlman stole the rifle and its attached bayonet earlier that day, the Daily New said.

Firearms apparently are not good luck for the suspect, who previously was convicted and sentenced to prison time for carrying a firearm without a license.

Teens need math help after elevator stalls

ST. PETERS, Mo., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- A group of 26 high school students apparently never considered the weight limit of a Missouri elevator, and when they got on, it stalled out.

The St. Louis (Mo.) Post-Dispatch said the teens crammed in next to two adults on a glass elevator in St. Peters and their combined weight forced the elevator to stall between floors.

Lucky for all aboard, a group of firefighters were at St. Peters' Mid Rivers Mall Saturday, and were able to free the passengers from their precarious situation.

Steve Brown of the Central County Fire and Rescue of St. Peters told the Post-Dispatch the packed elevator car was like a sauna prior to the rescue.

"A blast of heat came out because of all the people were packed in there like sardines," he said. "The perspiration was actually running down the glass."
