ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A councilwoman in Edgewater, Fla., will not be charged for allegedly performing an exorcism on her daughter.

State attorney spokeswoman Linda Pruitt said a two-month review found insufficient evidence to move forward with the case, the Orland (Fla.) Sentinel said Wednesday.

Police said Councilwoman Debra Jean Rogers and her husband were accused of domestic battery and false imprisonment after officers were called to the family’s home because their daughter Danielle was allegedly "acting like a crazy person," a report states.

The daughter, who is 18, filed a complaint alleging her father poured oil all over her to "get the demons out."

An attorney for the couple said the incident was not an exorcism. He said, however, the family did on occasion anoint one another with oil and pray.
