DELHI, Ohio, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Defying overwhelming odds, a woman from Delhi, Ohio, has given birth to two separate sets of triplets.

The odds for Victoria Lasita to give birth to triplets once was one in 8,000, but the second time the odds were one in 64 million, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday.

Lasita, 39, and her husband, Tim, decided in 2003 after their first set of triplets were born that they would like “one more.”

"I guess we should have been more specific and said one more child, not one more set," said the mother of six, who delivered her second set of triplets at Good Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday.

Local fertility doctors were stunned that the Lasita conceived both sets of triplets naturally.

"Holy smokes. Do you know what the odds of that are?" asked Dr. Glen E. Hofmann, of the Bethesda Center for Reproductive Health and Fertility.

The odds of a woman having triplets naturally are about one in 8,000, he said, adding that the chances of it occurring twice are one in 8,000 squared, which means one in 64 million.
