ELK GROVE, Calif., Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Newborn Holden Whittaker’s birth certificate lists a Chevron gas station in Elk Grove, Calif., as his official place of birth.

Judy Quiban and Douglas Whittaker were driving to the hospital when they realized that there wasn’t enough gas in the car to make it, so they pulled into a gas station to fill up.

Minutes later baby Holden was born, with gas station attendant Claudie Holmes acting as a stand-in midwife, the Sacramento Bee reported Thursday.

"Customers came in saying, 'Call 911,' and said a lady is giving birth in the parking lot," Holmes said. "So I dialed 911 and called my manager and we came outside."

Firefighters arrived on the scene and cut the umbilical cord before packing everyone, including the couple's 3-year-old, off to Sutter Memorial Hospital.

"Chevy!" Quiban's daughter exclaimed, suggesting a nickname for the baby.
