Catherine Anne Delgado 35, of Greenbelt was found by Annapolis police crying in the hallway of the Maryland Inn, The (Annapolis) Capital reported Monday. The officers were responding to a sexual assault report, but Delgado did not claim any ties to that incident. Instead, the police had their suspicions aroused by blocks of fudge falling out of the woman’s pockets and purse, and the chocolate smeared on her arms.
"Maybe she was just looking to get something to eat," Officer Hal Dalton said.
Delgado told police she didn't remember entering Uncle Bob's Fudge Kitchen, but she was lost and hungry.
"As far as the suspect’s activities, that's really befuddling in many ways," Dalton said. "We already had the evidence, so her trying to flush it really didn't make any sense. After being read her Miranda rights, she wouldn't talk to us about the case at all, so it's open to speculation."
Delgado was charged with second-degree burglary and theft of property under $500.
