NEW YORK, July 23 (UPI) -- A $10 campaign donation made to New York Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who is considering a mayoral bid, came from Michael Bloomberg -- but not the mayor.

Michael Bloomberg, 50, a self-employed contractor in the city, said he sometimes receives mail meant for the man who shares his name in City Hall and occasionally answers late-night phone calls from angry constituents, the New York Daily News reported Monday.

I make a joke. I say, 'I'm the other Michael Bloomberg,'" he told the newspaper.

Bloomberg said his $10 donation to Quinn was a "token."

"It's what I had right now to give," he said.

Quinn spokesman Mark Guma said the Democratic politician was amused by name on the donation.

"She got a kick out of it when somebody pointed it out to her," Guma said.

Bloomberg said he would also gladly give money to any political campaign run by the current mayor, who has reportedly been considering a presidential bid.

"But I don't think he needs it," Bloomberg told the Daily News. "I think he should give it to me -- the Other Michael Bloomberg Sailboat Retirement Fund."
